VISA: At Hosea Kutaku (Windhoek) as South African Citizen you do not need to apply for a visa beforehand. You will be issued with a 30-day entry permit on arrival. Ensure that your passport is valid for at least 6 months and have 3 or more blank pages. This airport is similar to our OR Tambo, but is it is possible to land there.
At Eros the visa will not be issued on arrival. Obtain the visa before you arrive.
VACCINATIONS: When arriving from a country affected by Yellow Fever, the vaccination is compulsory. WHO recommends the following vaccinations: Hepatitis A and B; Typhoid, Polio and Tetanus and C19.
PERMITS: For private flights, you will need to provide the routing, aircraft registration, postal address and contact details to the officials.
ZU-registered aircraft need to obtain a Certificate of Airworthiness from the Namibian CAA. The application form needs to be submitted to the CAA before the flight. Once you obtain the Certificate of Airworthiness you can apply for the permit.
PORTS OF ENTRY: Namibia has a couple international airports to choose from: Hosea Kutaku (Windhoek); Eros International and Andimba Toivo ya Toivo International (Ondangwa), situated close to the Etosha Park, Keetmanshoop, Gobabis and Walvis Bay.
Namibia, this country with the oldest desert in the world is not only home to the highest dunes in the world but it’s the only desert where you will find big mammals like the gemsbok and giraffe.
These colourful ever-shifting sands are best observed from the air.
It is always recommended to take a supply of water, some rations and a couple of space blankets with when flying over this incredible desert.
In the event of a forced landing stay with the aircraft as the aircraft is easier to see from the air than a lone human.

Always phone before to ascertain if there is fuel available. Plan your flight according to fuel availability.
Oil: Check with the airport supplier for availability or else carry your preferred oil with you for the flight.

The Skeleton Coast, stretching from Kunene to Swakop is littered with the wrecks of ships which the cold and treacherous Benguela current brought to an untimely death. Exquisite oryx and the rare brown hyena (strandwolf) call this stretch of arid land, home. Book a visit with a tour operator to the Northern section, the most attractive area of the park.
AIRSTRIP OPS: When visiting a lodge or even an unmanned airfield, it would be advisable to do a runway inspection before landing. Avoid overflying and circling over lodges.

As the holder of a SACAA pilots’ licence and associate privileges you are still bound by the SA CATS and CARs over and above the rules and regulations of the country you are operating your South African registered aircraft in. Whichever regulation is the most restrictive applies.
FLIGHT PLANS: The permit number must be indicated in field 18 of your flight plan.
