This landlocked country is well known for its friendly, warm-hearted people, enormous Lake Malawi and the Great Rift Valley.

Lake Malawi is the third largest and second deepest lake in Africa. This jewel in the crown of Malawi is home to a thousand species of fish more than any other lake in the world. The deep crystal blue water is ideal for sailing adventures and scuba diving. A houseboat stay on the lake offers the opportunity to view game or to simply just relax with a cold drink and a braai.
When en-route over Zimbabwe to Malawi do not overfly the boot of Mozambique between Zimbabwe and Malawi, without an overflight permit from Mozambique.

Malawi has spectacular private game lodges like Antelope Park. Prior permission from the owner is required to land at their airfields as they are seen as Category 3 airfields.
FUEL: AVGAS is almost unobtainable in Malawi.
The country does, however, have a strong contingent of sports aircraft enthusiasts. It is possible to contact them and arrange mogas. Executive Clearance and Aviation Consultants (https://www.xclearance.co.za/) offered their assistance with the arrangements.

The Great Rift Valley runs from southern Asia down to southwestern Africa, shaping the Malawian landscape to something truly spectacular. With the highest peaks over 10 000ft high and the valley itself barely above sea level, it provides some of Africa’s most varied scenery. Hiking and mountain biking trails provide an unforgettable experience.
